Sandbanks Kite Surfing

COASTGUARDS, fire and ambulance personnel were called to Poole after a kite surfer collided with a tree at Sandbanks.

Solent Coastguard Operations Centre received a report at 1.24pm on Sunday March 28 of a kite surfer injured after being caught by a gust of wind off Whitley Lake and blown into a tree off Haven Road.

Poole Coastguard Rescue Team and Southbourne Coastguard, as well as two fire engines from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue service were called out.
Haven Road was temporarily closed as fire crews recovered the kite, which remained tangled in the tree.

On arrival, the casualty was being treated by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust for his injuries.

A spokesman from Southbourne Coastguard said: “Tasked at 1.24pm hours by the national maritime operations centre to reports of a kite surfer who has collided with a tree near Shore Road in Poole.
